Trek Long Island Adds Two More Celebrity Guests For 2025 Event
10 months away from its third annual event, Trek Long Island continues to add celebrities who will attend New York’s only fan-run Star Trek convention. For their second announcement, they’re doubling up on the celebrities and announcing a pair whose work spans different eras of
Susan Sackett worked closely with Gene Roddenberry for nearly two decades, becoming his personal executive assistant from 1974 until his passing in 1991. This included duties across the first five Star Trek films, and applying her skills as a production associate for five seasons of “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” along with writing credits for “Menage a Troi” and “The Game.” Sackett has written several books detailing behind-the-scenes info from various Star Trek sets, as well as personal and professional stories from her years spent with Mr. Roddenberry.
Tiffany Shepis served as Chief Medical Officer Doctor Ohk aboard the USS Titan-A (later renamed to the Enterprise-G) on the third season of “Star Trek: Picard.” This Trill physician teamed up with Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden) to help save Captain Shaw (Todd Stashwick), and joined the bridge crew for the climatic Frontier Day battle in the series finale led by Captain Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan).
Beyond Star Trek, Shepis is best known for her prolific work in the horror genre. This scream queen has performed in films such as “Abominable,” “Sharknado 2”, “The Violent Kind,” “Hallows’ Eve,” “Nightmare Man,” and movies from the gruesome Troma catalog, including “Tromeo and Juliet” and “The Toxic Avenger IV.”
Shepis and Sackett join our previously announced guest, Bonita Friedericy, as part of their growing celebrity line-up. Friedericy appeared as a scientist named Rooney in the 2nd season “Star Trek: Enterprise” episode titled “Regeneration. She’s also performed in “Chuck,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Preacher,” “Malcolm in the Middle,” “Monk,” and played over 100 other characters on TV and film.
Expect the next guest announcement over the weekend of July 26-28, which will be first announced during Shove Leave 2024 in Lancaster, PA.
Trek Long Island 3 takes place at the Hyatt Regency in Hauppauge, Long Island, NY from May 30- June 1. This three-day-long event includes autographs and photo-ops with celebrities, sci-fi-specific vendors, engaging panels, interactive games and parties, and much more for fans of all eras of the franchise.
With an emphasis on diversity and inclusivity, Trek LI brings in scientists, authors, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and many more devoted fans to elevate this convention above similar shows, and give fans the power to shape this event like no other.
Hosted by Library For the Kind, a non-profit organization founded by librarians, Trek LI raises money for charities by donating a percentage of their profits to help children in need. In 2023, their debut event raised over $1000 for the Lavelle School for the Blind, and in 2024 raised $1500 for The Trevor Project and the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
Tickets, as well as hotel packages in the surrounding area, are available now on their official website.
Stay tuned for more news, updates, and additional guest announcements in the coming weeks and months!
