Trek Long Island’s next celebrity guest announcement is one for the bookworms - and we’re not talking about the bugs Khan put inside Chekov’s ear!
Elena Juatco played Hy’Rell, the quirky Efrosian archivist, in “Star Trek: Discovery’s” fifth season episode titled “Labyrinths.” This cheerful librarian for the Eternal Gallery and Archive was all smiles for Captain Burnham and her Away Team, and was especially delighted when she realized this encounter was the first time a Book visited her for a change.
With Trek Long Island’s focus on education – and our showrunner being a librarian – Juatco was an easy choice to become part of next year’s convention!
Juatco endeared herself to Trek fans in this brief appearance, but her work goes beyond DSC. This talented performer has appeared in or lent her voice to characters in shows and films like “Schitt’s Creek,” “Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities,” SurrealEstate,” “My Little Pony:Bridlewoodstock,” “Far Cry 6,” and “Jann.” Before heading deeper into acting, Juatco was a contestant on “Canadian Idol” during their second season, singing her way into the Top 6 before being eliminated.
Juatco joins a growing list of celebrity guests confirmed for Trek Long Island 2025 including John Billingsley (Phlox from “ENT”), Bonita Friedericy (Rooney from ENT “Regeneration”), Susan Sackett (personal executive assistant to Gene Roddenberry), and Tiffany Shepis (Doctor Ohk from PIC S3).
All guests will participate in panels, autograph signings, and photo ops during the weekend. Pre-orders will be available on TrekLongIsland.com before the event, while tickets are on sale now.
Stay tuned for more guest announcements and additional updates in the coming weeks and months!
Trek Long Island 3 takes place at the Hyatt Regency in Hauppauge, Long Island, NY from May 30- June 1.
This three-day-long event includes autographs and photo-ops with celebrities, sci-fi-specific vendors, engaging panels, interactive games and parties, and much more for fans of all eras of the franchise.
With an emphasis on diversity and inclusivity, Trek LI brings in scientists, authors, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and many more devoted fans to elevate this convention above similar shows, and give fans the power to shape this event like no other.
Hosted by Library For the Kind, a non-profit organization founded by librarians, Trek LI raises money for charities by donating a percentage of their profits to help children in need. In 2023, their debut event raised over $1000 for the Lavelle School for the Blind, and in 2024 raised $1500 for The Trevor Project and the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
Tickets, as well as hotel packages in the surrounding area, are available now on their official website.
Stay tuned for more news, updates, and additional guest announcements in the coming weeks and months!
